Entrance into the BAE Pre-Professional Ballet Division is by audition. The curriculum includes technique classes, pointe, variations, partnering, character, Pilates and boys' weight training. Students ages seven and up may audition by making an appointment with Nancy Sebouhian, Head of Registration. She can be reached at 212-410-9140 #17 or nancy@baenyc.com. The Pre-Professional Ballet Division consisits of nine levels. Each student is evaluated by the BAE faculty and placed into the level where she/he will benefit most from their classes. Performing opportunities such as the annual Spring Performance and the Studio Showing give the upper level students the chance to further develop their artistic and technical skills. Graduates of BAE are currently dancing or have danced with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Oregon Ballet Theatre, The Norwegian National Ballet and Memphis Ballet.

Primary classes for six-year-olds are an excellent preparation for level 1 of the Pre-Professional Division. The Enrichment Program offers classes to students wanting to study in a less serious environment. Auditions are not required for primary or enrichment classes. More information on primary and enrichment is available on the "Classes" page of this website.

Performing OpportunitiesThe BAE Student Company is comprised of students in the Pre-Professional Division of Ballet Academy East. The BAE Student Company was formed to provide vital performing opportunities to the aspiring dancers of Ballet Academy East.  Performance experience and excellent training are the essential components in a young dancer’s artistic and technical development.  Graduates of BAE are currently members of professional companies throughout the country, including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Kansas City Ballet, Boston Ballet II, Los Angeles Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Memphis Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theater, to name a few.
