YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM (AGES 7-19)

Training for professional careers in ballet

FACULTY
The faculty is led by artistic director Darla Hoover and includes Charles Askegard, Maxim Beloserkovsky, Cynthia Birdwell, Olga Dvorovenko, Peter Frame, Gonzalo Garcia, Jenna Lavin, Joseph Malbrough, Tara Mora, Francis Patrelle, Elizabeth Walker, Wendy Whelan and Cheryl Yeager. The permanent guest faculty include Nicholas Ade and Stacy Caddell.

SYLLABUS & CURRICULUM
The comprehensive BAE syllabus was created by Darla Hoover and is based on the teachings of Marcia Dale Weary. The syllabus is designed to develop technically strong, expressive ballet dancers, who ultimately can adapt to any style.

The Pre-Professional Ballet Division consists of nine levels. Each student is evaluated by the BAE faculty and placed into the level where she/he will benefit most from their classes.

The curriculum includes technique, pointe, partnering, variations, stretch, men’s weight training, modern and character.

PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES
Performing opportunities give students the chance to further develop their artistic and technical skills. BAE presents two annual student productions; the Studio Showing in February, and the Spring Performance in May.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships and financial aid are available to those who qualify. Upon acceptance, you may request a financial aid scholarship form from Nancy Sebouhian, Head of registration (nancy@baenyc.com).

REGISTRATION
Once accepted into the program, registration is accepted online, by mail, phone at 212.410.9140, fax at 212.369.2723 or in person. Registration office hours are Monday through Friday from 10:30am to 6:30pm.

MALE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Male dancers accepted to the Year-Round Pre-Professional Divison qualify for a full tuition scholarship.
To be considered for the Male Scholarship Program, register online for the next audition or submit a video audition.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT VISA PROGRAM
BAE is accredited by the federal government to accept foreign students.An audition is required. 
To apply for admission please send your audition video along with the completed Foreign Student Application. Click on the link below for instructions.

M-1 Visa Student Application

HOUSING
BAE has a fully furnished apartment located near the school, which houses a small number of male students. This housing is in high demand, and availability goes very quickly. Inquiries should be sent to info@baenyc.com.
In addition to the BAE apartment, student housing located within walking distance to BAE is available at the de Hirsch Residence and at 1760 Third Avenue. Additional options are listed at this link: Housing for Out-of-Town Students

 

AUDITIONS
Sign up now online for the 2015-16 Year-Round Program auditions being held on August 26th and September 16th. 

VIDEO AUDITIONS
Video auditions are accepted, however, there are some situations where we still may require an in-person audition.

SUMMER INTENSIVE
August 24 - Sept 4, 2015

The BAE Summer Intensive is a two-week program for students ages 9-19. The program is designed to challenge professionally focused students.  Admission is by audition.

SUMMER CLASSES
June 29 - August 21, 2015
