Junior Summer Course 2024

For aspiring dancers, ages 7 to 15

The BAE Junior Summer Course inspires dancers to reach their next level of achievement. The renowned BAE faculty, proven syllabus, and intensive curriculum provide students with the tools to attain technical and artistic growth. The rigorous curriculum is designed for highly talented and dedicated students. Classes are taught by year-round BAE faculty members and distinguished guest artists.

Audition Fee: $30. Space in the program is limited.

Current BAE Pre-Professional Division students are not required to audition for the Junior Summer Course or the August Intensive.

The Junior Summer Course will be held Monday, July 8 – Friday, August 9, 2024. Students may enroll for all 5 weeks or choose the individual weeks that work best in their schedule.

Upon acceptance to the Junior Summer Course, students will receive an email invitation with their level placement and enrollment instructions. We recommend that you reserve your place as soon as possible in order to secure your spot in the Program. Once the program fills, you will have the option to join the Wait List. August Intensive Information 

The Junior Summer Course comprehensive curriculum includes:

  • Ballet Technique
  • Pointe (if applicable for your level)
  • Variations
  • Men’s
  • Modern/Contemporary
  • Character
  • Hip Hop
  • Pantomime
  • Stretch & Strengthening

Students will have the opportunity to meet and chat with professional dancers in our exciting and inspiring “Meet the Artist Summer Series”.

Schedule and Level Placement
Level A – For newly accepted students and current BAE Level 1 & 2 students.
Level B – For newly accepted students and current BAE Level 3 & 4 students.
Level C – For newly accepted students and current BAE Level 5 & 6 students.

2024 Summer Schedule
10:30-3:00pm, Monday-Thursday and 10:30-4:00pm, Friday. Exact hours may vary from day to day slightly.

2024 Summer Tuition
Weekly – $790
5 Weeks – $3550

Extended! A 10% discount will be applied if tuition is paid in full by March 22, 2024.

Housing: BAE does not provide housing for its summer programs. There are many nearby hotels and short-term apartment rentals, including Courtyard by Marriott on East 92nd Street and Marmara Manhattan on East 94th Street.

Ballet Technique Classes:

Students who identify as female: Any solid color leotard with pink or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers, pointe shoes (if applicable). Skirts, sweatpants, leg warmers, and multi-strap or rhinestone-studded leotards are not permitted.

Students who identify as male: Any solid color tee shirt (no logos) with black or grey tights


All Other Classes:

Character (Levels A,B,C): Either character shoes or ballet slippers. Ladies: Black character skirt or any solid color ballet skirt

Modern(Levels A, B, C): Footless tights and bare feet (men: gray or black tights, ladies: pink, black, or flesh colored tights)

Stretch/Strengthen (All levels) : Any solid-color leotard with either footless tights or rolled up tights

Hip Hop (Level C): Shorts, sweatpants or dance wear, with sneakers


Additional Supplies:

Dance History, Lecture Series, and Meet the Artist Series: Please bring a pen/pencil and notebook to class in case you want to take notes.

Financial aid scholarships are available to those who qualify.
